Wound Solutions technology is a new treatment using electrotherapy to increase the rate of healing in hard-to-heal venous leg ulcers that have failed to heal in standard compression bandages.

Broken skin creates a current flow towards the wound centre at lower levels, and away from the centre at higher levels. Current assists in the recruitment of fibroblasts, other cells/growth factors, as well as stimulating angiogenesis.

Normal unbroken skin maintains a transepithelial potential via influx of sodium (+) and efflux of potassium (-).
